Who

My Brother, Juel, and I have been farming since before we could walk. It’s what we know. We were raised to understand that growing food and raising animals builds confidence, competence, empathy, and a greater understanding of our world. We were also raised to appreciate the benefits of having the best materials on hand to create amazing food.

We have been gainfully employed on our family farm since we were small children and have grown into management positions for our family’s burgeoning flocks of sheep, geese, chickens, and quail. We practice what is called intensive rotational grazing on our farm. We manage all aspects of assessing forage availability, rotations of the livestock, their daily care, and all minor vet care. We do this during our summer break and on most weekends. We tend to over 700 animals at the peak of the growing season. Approximately 20% of these animals go directly to beneficiaries of The Farm Family Project.

We love our farming lifestyle and hope to take the work ethic and lessons we’ve learned through our upbringing to help the world be a better place for all people, animals, and plants. I am passionate about politics, particularly immigration policy, women’s rights, and LGBTQ issues. I hope to someday work in international relations with a focus on Mexico and Central America.
